The Rebirth of Black Chameleon

The Rebirth of BLACK CHAMELEON

As we mentioned in The Birth of Black Chameleon, things changed drastically after the Explosiv show: Lukas and Richard decided to part ways with Flo and Mike. In the end, both sides agreed that Richard and Lukas were the ones to carry the Chameleon forward.

At the very first rehearsal after the split, the search for new bandmates began. Ads went out for vocals (male or female), bass, second guitar, and keyboards. But as the saying goes: good things take time. And that’s exactly what it took. Still, boredom was never an issue. Lukas and Richard kept clicking musically, often jamming for 45 minutes straight, always with the recorder running—because you never know when inspiration will strike. Over time, these sessions piled up into a treasure chest of ideas, many of which later became the foundation of the Colour Change album. The only problem: it was still just the two of them.

In January 2022, more and more musicians came by to audition, but nothing quite clicked—until May. A guitarist showed up and asked if he could bring a friend, a bassist. The rehearsal went well, but it wasn’t the guitarist who stood out—it was the bassist. That’s how Alex became the first new member of Black Chameleon. Shortly after, Christi joined on keyboards, and suddenly the band was a four-piece again, working hard on new songs. But the missing piece—a singer—was still nowhere to be found.

A year after the split, a new guitarist entered the picture: Elia from South Tyrol, who joined Richard on guitars. And then, in December 2022, things finally started moving fast. It all began with bad news: their rehearsal room was about to close. Forced to look for a new place, the band discovered Ferdinand Reloaded in Kalsdorf. From the very first rehearsal there, it was clear: this was the perfect spot. A stage for every practice, and a sound engineer at every session—it couldn’t get any better.

Still, the singer situation seemed stuck. The vocalists they had lined up dropped out last minute. But then the sound engineer mentioned someone he thought might be a perfect fit. She came in for an audition, and from the very first note it was obvious: Cori was the voice of Black Chameleon. With her joining, the lineup was finally complete. From that moment on, everything shifted into high gear: writing songs, playing live, and preparing new releases.

We are many voices, many colors, but one family. Thank you, Black Chameleon Family, for carrying us forward.
Until the next transformation – your Black Chameleon.
