Colour Change – The First Album of the New Black Chameleon
After months of writing, rehearsing, and recording, it finally happened: our first album as the reborn Black Chameleon is out. COLOUR CHANGE is more than just a debut – it’s a snapshot of a new beginning, capturing the raw spirit of when Lukas and Richard were still writing alone in the rehearsal room, dreaming of a full band to bring these songs to life.

Later, when Cori joined as our singer, the lyrics emerged – mostly written by Cori and Lukas – giving the music its voice, its edge, and its soul. Together with Alex, Christi, and Elia, the songs grew into what you can now hear on COLOUR CHANGE.
For the recordings, we entered Nino Markgraf’s Abnormal Audio Assault Studio, our first time in a professional studio. One by one, the songs came to life: drums first, then bass, then Richard’s guitars. Christi laid down the keys, Elia added his guitar parts, and finally Cori completed the circle with her voice. The mixing and mastering were in Nino’s hands, always with our feedback guiding the final sound.
Here’s a closer look at the six tracks that made it onto COLOUR CHANGE:
Get Heavy
The album opener – and the perfect way to kick off any concert. Originally titled “Wobwobwob”, this track came together quickly, built for speed, energy, and fire. It’s all about the live experience: face-melting riffs, pulsing drums, and lyrics about the very essence of rock and metal. It was the first single we released, and it remains a fan favorite for igniting the crowd.

Call of the Void
The oldest song on the album, already complete before the old line-up dissolved. Inspired by the French term l’appel du vide, this track embodies that eerie urge to do the unthinkable – to take the jump, to steer into the curve. From the legendary drum intro to the groovy bass jam and the high-energy shift into the chorus, it’s a rollercoaster. And if that’s not enough, the guitar solo at the end seals the deal.

1000 Shades of Blue
Time to breathe. This ballad slows things down, pulling you into a trance with piano, atmosphere, and Cori’s soaring vocals. The song was born from Richard’s idea “Ballista” and transformed by Cori’s passion for diving and the ocean. It’s a love letter to the sea – calm, powerful, and endlessly deep. Proof that Black Chameleon doesn’t just hit hard; we can also carry you away.

The Dreamdancer
Our live finale and one of our proudest creations. Formerly known as “Rich Box”, it’s a complete journey in itself – from the haunting synth intro to the explosive riffs, the calm verse carried by Alex’s bassline, the wall of guitars, and finally Richard’s unforgettable guitar solo. Lyrically, it paints the figure of the Dreamdancer, ruler of the dreamworld, guiding (or misleading) us through our subconscious. Mythical, powerful, and alive.

The Voice Within
Darker, heavier, more personal. This ballad (once called “White Shirt”) dives into the destructive power of inner voices – the self-doubt, the pressure, the pull toward the abyss. With quiet verses and a soaring chorus, it’s a song of struggle and release. The guitar solo in the middle represents the soul’s ascension, the fleeting moment of freedom. It’s also our longest track, trimmed down from an even more epic version.

Johnny
Closing the album with an unsettling twist. Inspired by the infamous serial killer John Wayne Gacy Jr., who performed as a clown while committing horrific crimes, this track leans heavily into old-school metal. With a strong Iron Maiden influence (its working title was “Iron Chameleon”), it’s full of extended guitar solos, instrumental passages, and raw energy. Live, it’s always a standout – heavy, grim, and unforgettable.

Looking Back
COLOUR CHANGE is more than just six songs – it’s the first chapter of the new Black Chameleon. From raw rehearsal jams to polished studio tracks, it tells the story of transformation, of building something from the ground up. And while it marks a beginning, it also sets the stage for everything still to come.
We are many voices, many colors, but one family. Thank you, Black Chameleon Family, for carrying us forward.
Until the next transformation – your Black Chameleon.
