The first “real” concert!
May 13th, 2023 was a truly special day for Black Chameleon. It marked the first real concert with the new lineup: Lukas, Richard, Alex, Christi, Elia, and Cori. And what better place to celebrate this milestone than at home at Ferdinand Reloaded – our rehearsal space, which conveniently doubles as a club with everything needed for a proper live show.
Of course, it’s always more fun when there’s more than one band on stage, so we invited Constant Repeat, a female-fronted rock band from Graz. They gladly agreed, and from that moment, we could hardly wait for the big day to arrive.
Constant Repeat opened the night, and it was a blast watching them perform their set. After about an hour, it was our turn – showtime for Black Chameleon. Since Cori had only been with us for four months at that point, we crafted a setlist that combined both old Black Chameleon songs and brand-new ones.
We kicked things off with an instrumental intro leading into Get Heavy. From there, we played the entire Colour Change album (sometimes in slightly altered versions), along with classics from the old days: Dancing on the Edge, While You Are Gone, Black Chameleon, and of course Surf or Die.
There were a few hiccups with the sound at the very beginning, but once that was sorted out, everything went smoothly. Most importantly, it felt incredible to be back on stage again, sharing our music with a live audience. The energy, the cheers, and the connection with the crowd made the night unforgettable.
